Overview

Agricultural value is often lost in movement. This strategic initiative addresses logistics across three areas: shipping, air services and cargo handling in support of agricultural trade.

Why this programme exists

The initiative is designed to strengthen the movement of agricultural produce from farming communities to processing centres, markets and export gateways.

Weak transport and haulage capacity is a major cause of post-harvest loss and of the price gap between farm-gate and market.

Objectives

Shipping: agricultural import and export logistics.
Air services: air transport and freight concept for high-value produce.
Cargo: cargo and logistics services supporting agricultural trade.
Reduced post-harvest loss in transit.
Improved access to domestic and export markets.
