About NAMCON
From vision to agricultural transformation
National Agricultural Mechanization Cooperative of Nigeria (NAMCON) — formerly the National Agricultural Mechanization Cooperative Society (NAMCS).
Our Story
An organization built around one conviction
NAMCON emerged from a simple conviction: Nigeria's agricultural potential can only be unlocked through modernization, mechanization, farmer empowerment and far broader participation by young Nigerians.
The organization was initially known as the National Agricultural Mechanization Cooperative Society (NAMCS), working on mechanization, farmer support and cooperative development.
It is now the National Agricultural Mechanization Cooperative of Nigeria (NAMCON) — a broader national platform built around the same objective, expanded into programmes covering production, inputs, processing, logistics, finance, energy and human development.
NAMCON supports and complements the agricultural development agenda of the Federal Government of Nigeria through initiatives focused on agricultural mechanization, food production, farmer empowerment, rural development, youth employment and agricultural value-chain development.

Why NAMCON Was Established
The problems the organization exists to address
Limited access to machinery
Most smallholder farmers still prepare land without access to tractors, implements or technical support.
A narrow economic base
Long-term resilience requires productive sectors beyond oil that create employment and add value.
Young people outside agriculture
Agriculture is too often seen as manual labour rather than a modern industry and a business.
Value lost after harvest
Weak storage, processing, logistics and market linkages erode the value farmers produce.
Our Vision
Position Nigeria as a major agricultural production force in Africa through mechanization, productivity, innovation and value-chain development.
Our Mission
Promote mechanized agriculture, strengthen farmer participation, develop rural communities, create employment opportunities and support sustainable agricultural and socio-economic initiatives.
Our Strategic Ambition
To develop an integrated agricultural ecosystem — mechanization, farmer participation, production, inputs, processing, storage, transportation, markets and export — rather than isolated interventions.

Youth & Agriculture
Bringing Nigeria's youth into agriculture
Agriculture should not be presented to young people only as manual labour. It can be a modern industry requiring engineers, tractor operators, mechanics, agronomists, financial professionals, software developers, logistics specialists, marketers, processors, entrepreneurs and business owners.

From oil dependence to agricultural opportunity
Nigeria's natural resources have played an important role in the country's economy. However, long-term economic resilience requires diversification and the development of productive sectors capable of creating employment, generating value and strengthening domestic production.
