Overview

Mechanization only endures where machines can be assembled, serviced and repaired locally. This strategic initiative envisages assembly plants and regional servicing centres supported by spare-parts supply and technical employment.

Why this programme exists

The initiative is designed to build local capacity to assemble, service and maintain agricultural machinery, rather than relying entirely on imported units and external servicing.

Machinery that cannot be serviced quickly is machinery that stops working — servicing capacity is therefore central to sustained mechanization.
